WE MAKE no apologies for returning once again to the bright Christmas lights in George Square.

Much like moths, it seems we can't keep away.

This pair of young lovers enjoyed their own personal light show in 1975, when the display's electricians tested it out by switching on all the lights in the middle of the night.

Back then, when Glasgow's licensing laws saw bars and clubs shut up much earlier than today, there were a few precious hours in the middle of the night when, literally, most of the city was silent and asleep.

This well-dressed pair obviously weren't about to board a late bus, and so were probably waiting for a taxi.

Mind you, if you had a 'lumber', and the whole of the deserted city to yourselves, would you be in any great rush to get home?
