A STRANGE tale emerged from a bar in the East End of Glasgow in 1995, leaving regulars mystified.
A disabled stranger arrived at Ramsey's Bar in Dennistoun one evening, ordered a pint of Aitken's Ale and settled down to enjoy his beer.
During the evening, he had another four pints and made some new friends.
Chargehand at the Duke Street pub Margaret Berrie chatted to him when he came in but, as the evening got busier, she was too occupied to speak to him again.
As the pub emptied at closing time, she looked over to where he had been sitting and he was gone - but his wheelchair was still there.
Margaret said: "He seemed to have vanished into thin air. We even checked the toilets in case he had fallen. He must have sunk five pints and certainly wasn't sober by the end of the night."
The locals started calling Aitken's "the miracle" beer.
