THESE carpet weavers are pictured hard at work at Templeton's carpet factory in Glasgow in 1947.

They were working on the same loom which produced the Coronation carpets.

The landmark factory was famous around the world, making carpets for everyone from kings and queens to maharajas, millionaires and swish cruise ships.

In fact, most of the carpets these ladies made would have been better, and a darn sight more expensive, than what they could afford at home. The workers would have been looking forward to the sound of the hooter to signal the end of their shift.
