THE man behind the annual Glasgow Mela multicultural festival has been honoured for his contribution to Asian arts in the city.
THE man behind the annual Glasgow Mela multicultural festival has been honoured for his contribution to Asian arts in the city.
Sewa Singh Kohli, a leading member of Glasgow's Sikh community was treated to a special reception at the city's Radisson SAS Hotel.
Mr Kohli, MBE, was presented with a plaque by Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon while Lord Provost Bob Winters gave him a set of cufflinks on behalf of the people of Glasgow.
The event was hosted by Sanjay Majhu, of the Apple Harlequin Group.
He said: "In addition to the many outstanding contributions he has made to Glasgow, he has made some significant contributions to the political and cultural life in Scotland."
Mr Kohli also helped found the Mel Milaap Centre, a multi-ethnic day centre for the elderly.
