CALLUM McGREGOR is confident he is well equipped to handle the highs and lows of life at Celtic this season.

The midfielder burst on to the scene for Ronny Deila's side as he caught the eye at home and in the Champions League.

His fine form was rewarded with a call-up to the Scotland squad for the glamour clash with Germany, but he missed out on Gordon Strachan's latest Dark Blues pool.

However, the 21-year-old won't let any setbacks affect his focus as he looks to shine once again.

"At the start of the season, when I was scoring goals and playing really well, everybody is your best pal," McGregor told the Celtic View.

"But if it goes the other way, that's not the case. It's just one of those things in football you need to deal with, but that's fine. I can deal with that.

"It makes you appreciate that when you are doing well that you need to enjoy it as well. If you enjoy it and be part of it, the performances will come.

"You will always have people who don't rate you as a player, but the main focus is doing what is right for the team and manager. If I can keep doing that, then I will be happy.

"The manager knows I'm young and have a lot to learn and he is trying to mentor me through that side of it as well as the football side, so I definitely appreciate that.

"I'm 21 and have a lot of learning to do. I just need to keep working hard defensively and going forward, so my overall game improves."
