NOW Celtic and Rangers are both in to the last four of the League Cup, rumblings about a potential Old Firm game have started to surface.

It's getting closer, one way or another. If it comes about in the semi-final, Celtic need to deal with it accordingly.

With the form that Celtic are in just now, I think they will be confident enough that they can come away with a win, no matter who they play.

It's going to be difficult. Dundee United went all the way to the Scottish Cup Final last year, while Aberdeen are the current holders of the League Cup after winning the trophy earlier this year.

We obviously know the tough game Rangers will give either of them.

I read earlier this week that Ally McCoist said he will be hoping his team don't get drawn against Celtic and I suppose I can understand that, especially given the way Ronny Deila's side are blowing away teams at the moment.

However, if and when the time comes when the teams have to play each other, I very much doubt he'll be saying it then.

In any given day anything can happen in an Old Firm game, regardless of which team is playing the better football.

Whoever Celtic play, the tie won't take place until February 1 and Ronny must use it as a positive to motivate the players.

It would be easy to say that it may distract some of the teams as their mind wanders off, but I don't think that will be the case here.

It may add a stimulus to things and keep everyone focused. It's something to look forward to and can help make sure that everyone is at the top of their game.

You don't make it a distraction, you make it a focus. It's something the fans, players and manager can all look forward to.
