THE so-called Celtic "supporter" involved in letting off a flare in Zagreb should be shown the door.

Uefa have instigated disciplinary proceedings - the fifth time in three years the Parkhead club have found themselves having to account for acts of stupidity off the pitch.

And it exceptionally unfair on the vast majority who not only support their club, but who have been a credit to it both at home and abroad.

For decades, Celtic have had an enviable reputation throughout Europe and beyond for the way the support conduct themselves, and these nonsensical acts, with flares and fireworks and political slogans, are besmirching the great record that the club enjoys; there is no place for this at Celtic Park, or, indeed, at any other stadium.

People should be told they are not welcome back at the club if this is the way they want to behave because they are hauling the club's good name through the gutter; it gets to a stage when you just cannot defend the indefensible.

The whole thing with flares and fireworks is just nonsense, and it is only a matter of time, if it continues, before you are looking at someone getting seriously injured through an act of wanton stupidity.

The other aspect is that Uefa are not going to keep dishing out a slap on the wrist.

If Celtic continue to find themselves in the dock over similar offences, Uefa's disciplinary chiefs are going to decide that the sanction is not severe enough and they will up it - which will effectively mean playing behind closed doors, as has happened to Europa League last 32 opponents Inter Milan in the past.

That is in no-one's interest and all over something that is, effectively, pointless.

It is vital the person responsible takes it on board - he is harming the club by continuing to act so stupidly and so selfishly.

If a name is known to the club of who is responsible, then serious action should be taken to ensure he is not welcome.
