SMOOTH Radio has been chatting to a new up-and-coming singer, Michael Kiwanuka, who has been supporting Adele on tour and his single Home Again has been gaining some great airplay.

Michael has played in bands with other artists before releasing his own material; we asked if he was more comfortable in that supporting role or did he always know that at some-point he'd have more to give? Michael said: "At the time I was pretty comfortable.

"I thought that was kind of as far as I'd go, I knew I wanted to be a musician, so I thought that would be a good way of doing it, you know to be an artist and have records coming out seemed far-fetched, so you know I thought this is cool for me. "Also I wasn't the best at being the frontman at the time; I was playing lots of music that I loved, then this was this other side of me that I get to play on my own music that I wasn't able to do then, so it was quite nice to fulfil that side of me."

And we wondered how much Michael learned about touring from Adele.

He said: "Watching her you learn stuff about how she goes about her way on the road. It makes you work really hard to try and sing your songs well live.

"She interacts with an audience; she's just herself you know.

"She just really acts herself, her whole team around her are down to earth, so you learn lots about how it is, as opposed to the veil of the TV when you could think it's slightly different and on top of that gigging every night there's no better lesson than just having to gig every single night."

Michael's debut album is out now and he's been compared to such legends as Bill Withers; we asked if comparisons like that send a shiver down his spine or does he get slightly scared by those comparisons?

He said: "A bit of both. You know sometimes it's exciting, you think, yeah man he was amazing and then you get scared 'cause you think you've got to live up to that, overall it's fantastic."

And finally Michael told us a little bit more about his song Home Again. He said: "Home Again encompasses most of the record actually but it's just about, kind of contentment and feeling of just like peacefulness really and home is kind of the image of it."

Lady Gaga goes natural

LADY Gaga has posted a picture of herself make-up free on her twitter page telling her fans to 'have a beautiful day'.

The Born This Way singer turned 26 on Wednesday; could she be ditching the fancy outfits and make-up for a while?

It's nice to see celebs without their make-up sometimes – makes them seem more like me and you.
