IT'S the most wonderful time of year:

when the nights get frosty, the decorations go up, and 2manydjs make their annual tour stop in Glasgow.

The DeWaele brothers need no introduction (or at least very little) around here.

The electro rock 'n' roll duo mash up all the stuff that makes you want to dance into one completely irresistible noise, and their nights are notorious for turning into sweaty, hazy evenings of excess.

You're going to feel silly on Saturday morning if you miss out - I guarantee it.

l 2manydjs, tomorrow, O2 Academy, 9pm - 3am, £25

Ensemble cast

ANOTHER duo, Dusky, bring their travelling showcase to The Arches tomorrow night with an ensemble cast of techno and deep house DJs providing the sounds.

Making bleeding-edge house with a distinct UK underground feel, the Londoners are joined by Dutch house sensation Tom Trago, Detroit/London duo Funkinevil and Berliner Palms Trax.

Then on Saturday Colours are back with Defected in the House, a straight-up disco-infused soulful house jamboree with one of the world's biggest labels, Defected.

They've got Berlin's Oliver $ alongside Noir and Sonny Fodera, among others.

l Dusky, tomorrow, The Arches, 10pm - 4am, £15

l Defected in the House, Saturday, The Arches, 10pm - 4am, £16

Pariah welcome

ONE of the hottest talents in dance music right now is Pariah.

As well as partnering with Blawan to unleash devastatingly raw, tough techno under the guise of Karenn, he's a critical darling with a slim but beloved solo discography.

Tonight he plays a marathon four-hour set at Rubix - something that electronic musos will not want to miss.

Likewise tomorrow's Optimo set. Their guest is London's Shift Work, who's also signed to Optimo's record label.

His hypnotic, off-kilter electro is wrung with everyday sounds and is more than weird enough to delight the evergreen night's ardent fans. And on Saturday, Subculture's talented youngster Telford takes centre stage, having risen through the ranks from glass collector to headline act. His residents, Harri and Domenic, must be so proud.

l Pariah, tonight, Sub Club, 11pm - 4am, £5

l Optimo, tomorrow, Sub Club, 11pm - 4am, £5

l Subculture with Telford, Saturday, Sub Club, 11pm - 4am, £8

Party at the double

ONE night, two obscure record labels, two parties that should be interesting in different ways.

At the Berkeley Suite tomorrow, Australian label Untzz present Mic Mills and Babicka, a pair of killer producers on their first European tour.

Fresh from their set in Berlin's infamous Panorama Bar, they play straight-up groovy house that gets a bit wonky sometimes.

Worth checking out - unless, that is, you prefer weird electronic pop that mashes up irreverent samples and low-fi production.

There's loads of that at the PC Music showcase, with prime exponent GFOTY alongside Kane West and label founder AG Cook. The tunes sound like a big hipster in-joke, but they are super-serious: prepare to be amused and bemused.

l Untzz Records Party, tomorrow, The Berkeley Suite, 11pm - 4am, £7

l PC Music, tomorrow, The Art School, 11pm - 4am, £8

Rave emergency

KUTSKI'S current tour, which stopped at the O2 Academy last week, is titled Keeping the Rave Alive.

Now we have the launch of a new night at 69 Below which promises to save the rave. Is rave so moribund that it needs this constant attention just to keep going?

Shouldn't we just leave it to slip away quietly in peace?

MC Stompin and DJ Joe Craig are the men tasked with rescuing the stricken genre, with the situation so grave that veterans MC GFB and DJ Dan R are being called out of retirement for one night only to administer what could be a critical shot to the heart of this once-thriving dance sub-category.

Will they do enough? There's only one way to find out, and that's to get down there tomorrow and help.

l Save the Rave, tomorrow, 69 Below, 10pm - 4am, £10
