GLASGOW 2014 chief executive David Grevemberg surveyed his kingdom this week and declared the city was "buzzing" before the Commonwealth Games.

No arguments there, but the phenomenon known as "peak buzz" is yet to come.

This weekend's clubbing options are enough to make any punter salivate.

One of the main draws of the summer - never mind this weekend - is Sensu's Boat Party, a rollicking trip down the murky Clyde with the Bronx born-and-raised Martinez Brothers manning the decks.

The house and techno odyssey continues at the Sub Club afterwards, with Sensu residents on the decks until 4am.

On Wednesday, regulars Sub Rosa have seminal techno duo Silicone Soul as guests, and they're giving you another extra hour - on a school night, no less.

l Sensu Boat Party, tomorrow, Riverside Museum and Sub Club, 6.30pm-4am, £28

l Sub Rosa with Silicone Soul, Wednesday, Sub Club, 11pm-4am, £5

We're jammin'

DAVID "Ram Jam" Rodigan, one of the most celebrated reggae DJs of all time, brings his packed record box to The Arches for this Culture 2014-curated gig.

He's been spinning discs since 1978, and at the grand old age of 63 is still killing it.

He's backed up by local reggae and dub collective Mungo's Hi-Fi, who spent last weekend tearing up London and Manchester in pursuit of their crazed, neverending bass lust.

Thankfully, the Caribbean vibes don't stop there. If there's three little words any skank fan loves to hear, it's "extra bass cabinets," a proposition that's being offered by Optimo's Bucky Skank.

This sweatfest will see Optimo's JG Wilkes spinning his favourite dancehall, ska and rocksteady, with a bunch of vintage analogue effects on hand for that authentic soundsystem feel.

l David Rodigan, tomorrow, The Arches, 11pm-3am, £12

l Optimo presents Bucky Skank, Saturday, The Art School, 11pm-3am, £6/£8

Mystery party

LIVING up to their mysterious moniker, the CryptiQ team is gearing up to present an all-day house and techno fest at a secret out-of-town location.

A Crystal Maze-esque geodesic dome will play host to soulful house early on from the likes of Boogaloo and Vicious Creatures, before moving onto dirty basement techno from Chaz Johnson, John Gallagher and Lindsay Green.

The only way to get a ticket is to know someone, but if dancing yourself into oblivion in the middle of nowhere appeals, then do check out the event's Facebook page, where spares might be available.

l Cryptiq: Wasserkraftwerk, Saturday, secret location, 2pm-6am, £25

Take your pick

TOMORROW night sees a wealth of lower-key parties competing with the established names for attention.

In Sauchiehall Street, indie venue Broadcast it's the launch of Club Junto, with sets from Saint Max and the Fanatics, Roxy Agogo and Joybox.

Across the street, at the Beresford Lounge, l DJ Tony Jabroni is spinning '80s tunes all night in aid of Cancer Research.

Down the street and up a bit, Glue has a childhood nostalgia-heavy, Disney-themed club night with - obviously - an electro, indie and techno soundtrack.

And at 69 Below it's the turn of Italian hardcore star Annie to thump the basement club's Funktion 1 system, and our brains, into submission with 7 hours of industrial hardcore.

l Club Junto, tomorrow, Broadcast, 9pm-3am, £tbc

l Darkside: Summer Sessions with Annie, tomorrow, 69 Below, 9pm-4am, £13

l 80s Party Night, tomorrow, The Beresford Lounge, 7pm-12am, £5

l Glue presents: Disney Club Night, tomorrow, The Flying Duck, 11pm-3am, £5
