THE South East of Glasgow paid tribute to their Community Champions last night and showed what a diverse wealth of talent and commitment it is home to.

Yet again the judges faced a stern challenge separating the winners from a terrific line up of finalists chosen from a large field of nominations.

The eight winners represent a variety of projects and come from a cross section of the communities that make up the South East area, but they all have one quality in common.

Each and everyone of them has the desire and drive to help others and make their part of Glasgow a better place to live for the whole community.

From teacher Stuart Munro who goes that bit further in preparing the pupils for life after school equipping them with more than academic qualifications, to Florence Goudie and Gina Greig who have been running the local Girls' Brigade for decades, the young people in the area have much to say thanks for.

The young are not slow to be involved either and the P2 pupils of St Mirin's Primary showed they care too by raising thousands for children's' hospices.

Another fabulous field of finalists and outstanding winners who deserve our thanks for all their tireless efforts.

Well done to everyone!
