It can be difficult to find a parking space at Yorkhill Hospital For Sick Children, but it is made even more difficult by the selfish actions of drivers from CP Plus parking in a 'Setting Down Only' bay for more than the permitted time.

For those who do not know, CP Plus is the company whose staff stick parking tickets on cars that are "illegally" parked.

In future, can hospital or health bosses make drivers of CP Plus leave their vans somewhere that will not deprive parents of sick children parking.

Well deserved

IT was lovely to see former Lord Provost Bob Winter awarded an OBE by the Queen in the Birthday Honours.

He is someone who has always appeared to genuinely care about the people he comes into contact with.

I have met him on a number of occasions, usually when he is at the City Chambers, and I have always been struck how pleasant he is and that he has time for everyone.

So well done Bob and enjoy your retirement, although I expect you will have plenty to keep you busy.

City's stars

AFTER a week's holiday I finally caught up with all your coverage of the Star Turn and was impressed with some of the entrants.

It shows how much talent there is in the city. I have already cast my vote and hope everyone else does the same.

Right decision

as the eurozone crisis dominates the headlines, we should spare a moment to thank Gordon Brown for keeping us out.

When he was Chancellor, Mr Brown would not let the UK join the euro and was criticised by a whole host of people, including current Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond, who both said at that time we urgently needed to join.

Gordon Brown may not have been a slick TV performer like Clegg and Salmond, but he was right.
