IT was a spectacular sight to see blocks of the Red Road flats being razed on Sunday.
It was great to see so many people out to watch the demolition.
I was surprised by how quickly the flats came down during the demolition.
The pictures in my Evening Times captured the scene perfectly.
Although I was slightly sad to see the flats go, I think it is for the best.
I'm sure new homes for the former tenants will be of a higher standard.

Gorbals' shame
AS one who was brought up in the Gorbals – where some of the hardest men in Glasgow came from – I shudder to think what they would have done to the lowlife who desecrated the memorial to VC James Stokes in the Gorbals Rose Garden in Old Rutherglen Road.
This was a man whose courage in battle won him Britain's top honour.
The only courage these morons had was to take on the dead who can't fight back.
I hope the true Gorbals people can name these low life to the police.
They have brought shame to a place which I was happy and where legendary boxing World Champion Benny Lynch came from.

Football farce
Regarding the backstabbing farce which is taking place in Scottish Football at the moment amongst the SFA, at Rangers etc, it has at least proved one thing – the truth in the old question 'with friends like these who needs enemies?"

Historic Times
I'M a big fan of your Historic Times column in the Evening Times on a Monday.
I always find out something I didn't know about Glasgow.
It goes to show just how interesting Glasgow is. Keep up the good work Geoff.
