Whatever the size of your home, it is pretty certain you will find something that fits the bill at Annie Mo's.

Although the showroom on Great Western Road is packed large dining tables, over-sized sofas and huge chandeliers, many of the pieces come in different shapes and sizes. The hardest part is deciding what to buy.

Take the hand-crafted oak dining tables made in Poland by Yask. Each table is made to order, so you can choose a shorter or longer version to suit your home, or tweak the finish from standard oak to darker shades smoked in a kiln.

Alternatively deep chesterfield sofas by Alexander & James come in a wide selection of different leather and fabric finishes.

"This is an updated version of a traditional chesterfield because it is so much softer," explains Lynne Burnett, store manager.

"You can have a leather sofa with fabric seats and sides, or change them around. Two people who know each other might buy the same sofa but they can both look very different."

And oak dining tables made in France by Natalie come in a selection of finishes, with a choice of colours and distressed wood to choose from.

Annie Mo's opened in Glasgow last year after establishing a firm following at its Aberdeen store going back 23 years.

A proudly offbeat furniture store, it is a million miles away from standard offerings on the high street.

You will find contemporary pieces with a timeless feel: chunky armchairs, button-down dining chairs in moleskin or leather, oak sideboards and console tables as well as wardrobes, beds and occasional tables.

The Hunter Industrial collection includes quirky lighting, mirrors and factory style chests of drawers.

"People are looking for things a bit different from what is on offer elsewhere. Sometimes they like things a bit more quirky," says Lynne.

"The Halo range has been taken right back to traditional ways of making furniture but the styles have a contemporary feel."

A large leather campaign-style chest opens up to a writing desk, complete with with drawers and filing cabinet.

And other trunks from the company, hard to find anywhere else, are beautifully hand-made with fabric-lined drawers.

"Halo is timeless, you can have these pieces of furniture for years and they are not going to look dated," says Lynne.

"West End customers quite like things that are different. We also sell to people coming down from the island and customers will travel to come to the shop because they've bought from here before.

"Some of the big, chunky well-made pieces work particularly well in tenement flats. It's a bit more of an eclectic range than being very minimalist or all matching."

Stock updates regularly and a wider selection to order can be seen on the website.

"It's a considered purchase so people want to make sure they get the right thing," adds Lynne." You want something that's going to grow with you. It's an investment."
