Glam vintage costumes and sparkling tiaras were on show to celebrate the opening of Scottish Ballet's new season.

The critically-acclaimed company ran through the final dress rehearsal of their double bill featuring Pennies from Heaven and Jorma Elo's new work, Kings 2 Ends, before the production gets under way.

Their Autumn Season 2011 opens at Glasgow's Theatre Royal from today and runs until October 1.

Inspired by the music and cinema of the 1930s, Ashley Page's Pennies from Heaven is a playful interpretation of a range of popular songs from the period, with elegant designs steeped in the vintage glamour of the era.

The dancers are cast as a cross-section of 30s society, including a hotel bell-hop, cinema cigarette girl, and romantic couples out for the evening telling bittersweet love stories.

And Kings 2 Ends features striking leotards, and breathtaking ruby-red dresses.

It was created for Scottish Ballet and is based on Mozart's Violin Concerto No 1.
