THE public is being asked to nominate outstanding new Glasgow buildings for a top award.

The Civic Trust Awards were set up in 1959 to recognise the best in architecture, design, planning, landscape and public art.

Awards are given to projects of the highest quality design, but only if they are judged to have made a positive cultural, social or economic contribution to the local community.

It is hoped a number of Glasgow buildings will be put forward for consideration by judges.

Liz Cameron, the city council's executive member for jobs and the economy, said: "Glasgow's architecture is internationally renowned, with our Victorian buildings being especially well-recognised.

"In the past 15 years, some outstanding new buildings have been created in Glasgow."
