A probe was under way today after a six-year-old boy died in a house fire in a Highland village.
Human remains believed to be those of Aiden Owens were found at the property in Milton, near Invergordon.
His mother and sister, who reportedly jumped out of a window to escape the Sunday morning blaze, were being treated in hospital.
Reports today suggested that Aiden had been too scared to jump to safety before the floors in the house collapsed.
Northern Constabulary said a joint investigation involving police and the fire service was being carried out to work out the cause of the blaze.
