A GLASGOW gymnasium closed suddenly when two burst water pipes wreaked havoc.
Greens Gym, in Finnieston, is closed until further notice after yesterday's drama which saw customers asked to leave when an emergency alarm sounded.
But rather than a fire, it was a flood of water that caused the panic. The gym, on, Finnieston Street, will remain closed until the pipes are repaired and electrical systems are tested for safety.
A spokeswoman for the gym said: "Greens Health and Fitness, Glasgow Central is currently closed due to a burst water main.
"The safety and security of our staff and members is our top priority and the centre will remain closed until we are sure that we are able to operate as normal.
"We apologise to our members for any inconvenience and invite them to use Greens Health and Fitness, Glasgow Giffnock or Nuffield Health Fitness and Wellbeing Centre, East Kilbride, while the centre is closed."
The Greens Glasgow Central Facebook page – which has around 700 members – posted details of the closure.
Members asked when the gym would be likely to open again, but staff could only say they hoped it would be as soon as possible.
The Greens chain of gyms was recently bought over by Nuffield Health. The takeover saw Greens members issued with Nuffield membership cards, which led to problems with the electronic keycard entry system.
