DRUGS with an estimated street value of more than £3.5million have been recovered by police.

As reported in later editions of last night's Evening Times, officers found cocaine, diamorphine and cannabis resin worth around £1.5m at a property in Galloway Road, East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, on Friday.

Two men, aged 54 and 27, were arrested.

On Saturday, as part of the same operation, 240 kilos of cannabis resin, worth an estimated £2m, was found in the town's Pembroke area. A man, 31, and woman, 34, were arrested following that find.

Detective Superintendent Andy Gunn, of the major crime and terrorism investigation unit, said: "Serious and organised crime is a high priority for Strathclyde Police."
