THE contest is hotting up as the city's future stars rush to enter Glasgow's most talked about talent contest before the final deadline.

Glasgow Star Turn website has been so busy we have extended the closing date to Thursday May 31, giving you a few extra days to upload your video.

Soon the judges will be selecting the cream of the crop to go through to the next round.

The sparkling grand final, hosted by Clyde 1 DJ Knoxy, will be held at the Old Fruitmarket on Monday July 30.

Hundreds of Glaswegians are expected to turn out and join the party to celebrate the search for the city's next big thing.

Our expert judges – Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus, comedian Sanjeev Kohli, panto king Dean Park and TV presenter Catriona Shearer – will make the final decision.

And the winner will take away the £1000 prize.

Singing duo Hannah Doherty, 16, from Dumbarton and Carolann Threwal, 15, from Alexandria, are among our latest entries.

They discovered a passion for music at Our Lady and St Patrick's High School in Dumbarton and have been playing together and busking since they finished their exams last month.

Hannah said: "We like to try and be a bit different. Our song is Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri. We've played it to all our mates who have given us a lot of really good feedback and encouragement.

"I've been playing the guitar for two years, and we both sing.

I write my own songs too. We're hoping it's going to go really well. "
