HUNDREDS of police controlled a protest by a far-right group in Glasgow city centre.
Police and riot vans met members of the Scottish Defence League (SDL) in St Enoch Square near the city's busiest shopping streets.
Anti-fascist groups, trade unions and political parties outnumbered the SDL protesters by more than two to one. Opponents of the SDL have branded them "neo-Nazis masquerading under the flag of Scotland".
No arrests were made.
SNP MSP Humza Yousaf said there were "200 police at least" and riot vans at St Enoch Square.
A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police refused to comment on the number of officers involved in operations, but said that the demonstration was covered appropriately.
