YOUNG cyclists from across Glasgow lined up to race in the city's first young bike-racing series.
Bike Fest 2012 was launched at Ashgill Recreation Centre (ARC) in Milton on Saturday.
It was the first of five races that will finish with a grand final event at the new Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in October.
Young people of all ages took part in different races on the 600m mountain bike trail circuit including under-eights, eight to 12-year-olds, 12 to 16-year-olds and those 16 and older.
The Radworx team was on hand to provide BMX coaching and Glasgow Bike Station's Dr Bike checked out bikes and offered advice on maintenance.
Children enjoyed face painting as well as live music and a chance to try out ARC's bouncy castle.
The youngsters will head to Cathkin Braes on June 23 for the next race in the series, followed by races at Alexandra Park in the East End on July 28 and at Pollok Park on the South Side on August 25.
Organised by young people from Bike Club, the national cycle development project, Glasgow Life and Glasgow Community Safety Services, the events include fun activities for all the family.
