GLASGOW'S annual piping festival will bag £12million for Scotland's economy, say organisers.
More than 30,000 people are expected to descend on the city next week for this year's Piping Live! which includes the 'Worlds' championships.
The top Grade 1 tickets to watch piping's elite compete sold out in just two months this year, half the usual time.
More than 150 ticketed and free events will also takie place from August 6-11, including concerts, recitals, competitions, ceilidhs, free pipe band tasters at George Square and come and try sessions.
The festival will culminate with hundreds of pipe bands competing for the title of World Champions.
An estimated 50,000 spectators will attend the final on August 11 on Glasgow Green.
Studies show The Worlds generate about £10m for the Scottish economy and this year participants are travelling from 15 countries, including Australia, New Zealand, America, Canada, Estonia, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, Ireland and England.
Around 75% of those attending come from outwith Glasgow and more than a quarter from overseas. Piping Live! is expecting to pull in an additional £2.1m in tourism revenue.
The opening night concert on August 6 will include a performance by John McCusker, one of Scotland's most versatile instrumentalists who has shared the stage with stars such as Patti Smith, Steve Earle, Teenage Fanclub and Paolo Nutini.
Other highlights include Orain nam Piobairean (Songs Of The Pipers), an evening of piping and Gaelic song at the Piping Centre on August 8. Acclaimed Gaelic singer Kathleen MacInnes will be performing.
