A PAEDOPHILE has been jailed for more than two years after carrying out sex attacks on two school girls.
Todd Hume, preyed on one of his victims over the space of almost two years between January 2006 and December 2007.
The other young girl was subjected to one vile attack between October and November 2006.
It can be revealed the trial came less than a year after his grandfather John Hume was sentenced to five years for a reign of abuse on four girls.
Hume, whose address was given as HMP Barlinnie, pleaded guilty to two charges of using lewd, indecent and libidinous practices towards the youngsters at properties in Glasgow's West End, on the second day of his trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
Both girls, aged 12 and 13 at the time of the incidents gave evidence at the trial against Hume before he instructed his defence lawyer, solicitor advocate Tony Graham to tender pleas of guilty to the charges.
The younger of the two girls, who was attacked once, told the court she was "still playing with Barbies" at that age and described herself as being "innocent" then.
The court heard that Hume had no recollection of his actions. The 23-year-old also admitted scaring young boys at a primary school, last October.
Passing sentence yesterday, Sheriff Sam Cathcart told Hume – who has previous convictions for breach of the peace, assault and theft and a police assault – that there was no other way of dealing with him than by way of a custodial sentence.
He was jailed for a total of 26 months – 23 of which are for the sex attacks on his young victims. He will serve three months afterwards for the incident at the school.
The sheriff ordered that Hume be monitored in the community for 11 months after his release and put him on the sex offenders' register.
