RICHY Muirhead studied for an MA in Music: Innovation & Entrepreneurship at UWS Ayr Campus.
This 23-year-old, from Kilmarnock, has been making a name for himself in Scotland's music scene, as the founder of the Scottish Alternative Music Awards.
The event, in its third year, aims to give recognition to musicians as well as showcase talent.
The 2012 ceremony, held in Glasgow's Garage, in March, was hosted by funnyman Billy Kirkwood with awards presented by BBC Radio Scot- land DJ Vic Galloway, BBC Radio 1 DJ Ally McCrae and broadcaster Jim Gellatly.
The awards started as a project for Richy, during his third year studying BA Commercial Music.
Budding entrepreneur Richy said: "I had gone to the MTV Awards that year and it was inspiring - I wanted to do something that brought people together to celebrate music."
He was offered a place on the university's MA Music: Innovation & Entrepreneurship course.
The first of its kind in the UK, the course aims to address music, culturally and commercially, in the context of entrepreneurship.
Richy said: "This course has helped me develop my ideas with more of a business mind."
He's since won enter- prise awards and star- ted Ayrshire festival Dirty Weekender, featuring local bands.
He said: "I aim to learn as much about the music trade as I can."
