A MAN has plunged 50ft to his death from a castle near Ayr in a tragic accident.
The 43-year-old plummeted from the clifftop Greenan Castle at about 5.20pm yesterday.
His death came just hours after a 15-year-old girl fell more than 60ft to her death from the roof of a four-storey building in the town.
Kayleigh Scott fell from the block of flats in Ayr town centre's Fullerton Street, just after 11.30pm on Wednesday, as reported in later editions of last night's Evening Times.
In last night's incident, it is thought the man was walking alone when he fell to the beach.
A horrified passer-by called emergency services who later said the man died at the scene.
Police are probing the incident and a spokeswoman said that it "appears the incident was a tragic accident."
Also under investigation is the incident involving the death of tragic teenager Kayleigh.
The teenager, from Tarbolton, was rushed to nearby Ayr Hospital, after falling from the building near the bus station. She died a short time later.
Her family laid a solitary bunch of flowers at the scene with a card that said: "Loved and missed forever. Sleep safe our precious little angel, all our love, hugs and kisses. Mum, dad, Jodie and little Rubi."
The circumstances surrounding her death are unclear and the street where the incident took place remained cordoned off today.
Kayleigh was a pupil at the town's Belmont Academy where head teacher Alan Moir said: "Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
"We are doing everything we can to contact friends from the school."
Friends have left tributes to Kayleigh on social networking sites.
