Detectives have launched a murder inquiry into the death of a man in Hamilton.
Police were called to reports of a disturbance on Mayfield Road, Hamilton, around 11.50pm yesterday.
Emergency services attended and Stephen Coutts, 35, was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after. Relatives are aware.
Another man was also injured and is currently detained in hospital where staff describe his condition as stable.
Detective Inspector David Moran is leading the investigation and said:
“The investigation is at an early stage and officers are conducting enquiries in the surrounding area to establish what happened.
“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information that could assist us with our enquiries to contact police via the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111.”
