THE actress who will star as Gail Sheridan in a new play about former MSP Tommy Sheridan has been revealed.
Michele Gallagher will appear at the King's Theatre, Glasgow, in I, Tommy, the new tragi-comedy by Ian Pattison, the writer of television series Rab C Nesbitt.
However, this week Michele, is working at the theatre – as an usherette.
The 34–year-old, who grew up in Glasgow's South Side is hugely excited about the chance to play Gail.
"I can't quite believe it," said Michele.
"Gail's a national figure, a high-profile woman who, as the wife of a politician, has really been through the mill.
"She has taken everything the world has thrown at her and caught it with both hands."
Michele landed the role of Gail after a series of tough auditions.
"I studied Gail hard before I went to meet the producers," she said.
"I have never met her but, luckily, there is lots of YouTube footage and I was able to look at that.."
A former RSAMD graduate, Michele has worked in theatre for years. She has also appeared in TV shows such as Taggart and Still Game.
However, when not acting, Michele works in theatre – at the business end.
"I still work front-of-house," she says. "Acting is a precarious profession and when I am not on stage I like to work in theatre."
lThe play will star Des McLean as Tommy. It runs from November 5-10.
