WESTLIFE kicked off the first of four farewell gigs in Glasgow last night.

The popular Irish heart- throbs brought their stools to the SECC to say goodbye to legions of Scottish fans.

Nicky Byrne, Shane Filan, Mark Feehily and Kian Egan are midway through a huge 27-date tour of the UK.

They will play three more dates in Glasgow on June 16, 17 and 19, which will mark the band's 50th and final performance at the venue.

Screaming fans were treated to hits including Flying without Wings, You Raise Me Up and When You're Looking Like That.

And a singer from the Southside of Glasgow helped warm up last night's capacity crowd.

Bee MacMillan, 24, who grew up in Pollok, is a member of new girl group Vanquish, who, as reported in the Evening Times, were picked for the supporting slot for the band.

The band released their debut single, The Harder You Love, on May 20.

Fans took to Twitter to share their excitement during last night's show.

Eilís from Glasgow said: "The best night of my life is happening right now!"

The band announced that they were splitting last year after 14 years together. They have chalked up 26 Top 10 hits including 14 No.1s.
