THE Scottish Forestry Commission is holding an activity day to encourage families to make use of local woodland.

The free event, at Garscadden woods, near Drumchapel, this Saturday at 10.30am, has been launched in connection with Glasgow's Common- wealth Games.

A play area will be set up in the forest and children will be shown classic games such as hop scotch and skipping, in the bid to get more people to enjoy woodlands.
