The letters from Johnny Mack and Stewart Douglas demonstrate exactly why we need strict liability laws on our roads.

Their attitude demonstrates that too many car drivers care little for the safety of other, more vulnerable, road users.

The fact is, people die every day on our streets because of cars - not because of pedestrians or cyclists.

This law is just common sense and is already in place in most of Europe.

Telling tails

I WOULD ask R. Keery (Letters) not to make such sweeping generalisations about some breeds of dog.

Staffies and pit bulls are beautiful dogs, which require a good owner, same as any child requires a good parent.

Let's learn from this and get better educated on the subject.

Phoenix hope

IT'S great news that experts are confident the Glasgow School of Art will rise, phoenix-like, from the ashes.

I remember the day this precious piece of our heritage burned, I and colleagues watched from our office window and many of us were in tears.

Good luck to everyone involved in the efforts to restore this wonderful building.

Cash-go-round

I'VE Just read that there's a £300 million shortfall in the NHS budget. Then I read that the Royal Bank of Scotland has been fined £400m for illegal goings on.

Am I wrong to think that's the problem solved?

Could someone tell me, where does the money go to when big banks incur such a huge fine?

Ransom strip

Re. Protest at 10ft land block on community centre: So why buy the land in the first place?

Such so-called 'ransom strips' are common in land deals. The group's legal advisors should have warned them before they went ahead.
