I HATE to disagree with Councillor Alistair Watson, Points of View, October 25, but the new South Glasgow University Hospital is hardly the Scottish Government's baby.

But while we are on paternity suits, is it not his council, as planning authority, who have the final say on parking?

It was the health board and the council who were misled by a speculative transport assessment into believing that 3500 on-site parking spaces would be enough. The health board have apparently seen the error, and are now thinking of 4000 spaces.

That would represent around two spaces per bed. The current number I understand is about 1800, also about two per bed, and as any member of staff or patient or resident can tell you it is far from enough.

When the hospital is up and running there will be 2800 spaces. With 1900-odd beds and twice the staff, that's less than 1.5 per bed.

Cost of a jab

JAMES HILL, October 24, says that his flu jab was given by a locum.

I'd hate to think that "highly paid" doctors are administering flu jabs.

In my surgery, nurses are employed for flu and other injections.

Lamont move

HOW ironic that Johann Lamont should resign as the leader of Labour in Scotland because she was fed up of London interference yet she campaigned alongside the Tories to make sure London continues to interfere in Scotland's economy.

It is also telling that she kept quiet on the bedroom tax for a year while London Labour leader Ed Milliband could make up his mind on whether it was a bad thing or not.

No wonder more people are flocking to the SNP.

Disgust at EU

I FIND it disgusting that we should be asked to pay more to the EU.

We get nothing in return.

Years ago there was a food mountain which was donated to the needy and now we have food banks.
