Maryhill Housing Association should hang their heads in shame after not allowing a family to keep their late mum's home.

Tina and John Shanley shared this loving home with their kids and grandchildren. Even a petition of more than 700 neighbours, friends and families that have known this couple makes no difference. Shame on Maryhill Housing Association for not even listening to a grandfather who only wants to keep his family home intact in memory of a loving mum and grandmother.

I flew into Prestwick last week, my first visit there in a few years and what I saw was a tired old place with an air of neglect.

The immigration officer even had time to chat telling me that was a hard day over checking passports from passengers on three flights that day.

In the main concourse where I seem to remember there was a bar-diner and some retail outlets - zilch. This airport has had its day and they should get it closed allowing Glasgow to absorb the passenger and freight flights. Airlines regularly announce new flights to new destinations but Prestwick never features in any of it.

Its a sad situation and I feel sympathy for folk employed there but just don't see any future for Prestwick as an airport.

Does anyone else think this one big hospital for all of Glasgow is a bad idea. Was the public ever consulted. I am in the west end and god forbid I ever have an emergency. I could be dead before I get over there. What about when the tunnel is closed. It's all totally wrong. Who else agrees.

Glad to see Queen Margaret Drive has fully reopened again after closures. Small traders in this climate need all the help the can get. I admired their vision during the road closures with a loyalty scheme for customers. Forward thinking business people making the most of the situation.

Maybe it's something other city businesses should think about as a way of hitting back at the big retailers. I certainly feel more loyalty to local traders.
