It is disgusting that the poor, needy and disabled are being penalised for the faults of the super rich who nearly brought the country to its knees.

I have great admiration for those that help in the food banks and those who assist by providing the, much needed food.

I always thought government's first responsibility was to the welfare of its citizens.

Apparently we can afford nuclear weapons, that we dare not use, but are unable to provide a decent standard of living for people. Disgraceful.

Too few homes

Re. DemOlition of tower blocks (Monday). Sixty houses to replace four tower blocks? That's all we need when people are desperate for a home.

This will only make things worse and drive more people into the private rented sector, with higher rents.

Run to hospital

While out jogging on Thursday September 25, on Maryhill Road, I tripped over a kerb and hit my head on the pavement.

A young man on a bike, and a young lady in a car stopped to help me, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude.

They were very concerned as I had blood on my face from a cut above my eye, and I didn't realise till I got back to the sports centre what a mess I looked.

Sorry for giving you a scare, and thanks again for your "Good Samaritan" help!

Got stitched up at the Western (big thanks to the doctor who treated me), and looking forward to an uneventful run next week!

(Who says jogging's good for you?)

My messages

After their outrageous behaviour and gross interference in our referendum campaign, I have voted with my feet and wallet and boycotted Asda, Sainsbury's & Aldi.

Their financial loss will be to the benefit of Morrisons & Tesco who chose neutrality in this regard.
