GLASGOW'S schools have recorded an improvement yet again in the annual round of Standard Grade and Higher exams.
At each level the pass rate has increased, meaning more pupils and parents with smiles when they open the long-awaited results letter.
While the city has made improvements in recent times it is undeniable there is still much room for improvement.
Compared to previous years the city is doing well, however, compared to schools in most other local authorities the attainment results are low.
It will take time to reach the Scottish average for Credit level Standard Grades and for Highers, but with the continued dedication of teachers and hard work of pupils it can be achieved.
A continued focus on education from early years to exam time and beyond is essential if Glasgow is to continue to make progress.
Hopefully the city can record improved results every year for many years to come.
Today is the day pupils look forward to the next level or re-assess their plans and re-evaluate their options.
To everyone who sat their exams earlier this summer and got their results today, well done for all the hard work and good luck in whatever you tackle next.
