FRASER Aird has urged his Rangers team-mate Nicky Law to try and blank out the abuse the Ibrox club receive from their own fans.

Law revealed in midweek that he was looking forward to the summer break - after receiving months of flak from Gers supporters.

Ally McCoist's players, who take on Stenhousemuir at Ochilview this afternoon, are undefeated in SPFL League One action so far this season.

But Light Blues followers have still been unhappy with how they have performed in the second half of the 2013/14 campaign - and have made their feelings clear.

As a lifelong Rangers fan himself, Aird knows the high standards the side has to attain every time they take to the park.

And the winger feels Law, who has been nominated for the PFA Scotland League One Player of the Year award, should ignore the criticism and focus on playing football.

He said: "I think as a player you have to let it go in one ear and out the other and try to put on a good performance.

"The Rangers fans have always had high expectations. That is what it is like playing at this club or being a fan at this club.

"I have been a fan of this club my whole life and that is what it is like.

"You have just got to go out there and give 100%. If you do that the Rangers fans will be happy at the end of the day."

Aird added: "I saw the stuff about Nicky Law. Obviously coming to a club for the first year is going to be difficult. But I think he has handled it well.

"He has gone out and played so many games for us in the middle of the park and has been brilliant for us.

"It is an honour that he is one of the nominees for the team of the year.

"But at the end of the day there are high expectations at this club and that is what you have to deal with."
