ALLY McCOIST fears he will miss out on his summer signing targets - unless he is given the go-ahead to start strengthening soon.

Rangers chief executive Graham Wallace will reveal the eagerly-anticipated findings of his 120-day business review next Friday.

But manager McCoist expects to be told early next week whether he will have any cash to spend on new players during the close season.

He has identified individuals he would like to take to Ibrox to boost his side's chances of winning the SPFL Championship in the 2014/15 campaign.

And the Light Blues gaffer is hoping to be in a position to make the free agents concrete offers soon - before they start to look elsewhere.

McCoist said: "We need to get things moving. I've been told I will have a better idea next week. I will know before the review is published what I can and cannot do, so I'm obviously looking forward to that.

"We have got to get moving. In an ideal world we would already be moving, but I respect what is happening.

"If we can get players in then we need to get moving right now because the players have their own livelihoods to consider. If we can get players, and it's players that are out of contract, then we need to start making moves.

"We don't know what we can offer players, or if we can offer them anything. It's very difficult.

"We've obviously got targets, players who are out of contract. They will want to get themselves looked after for next season.

"The lads who are out of contract haven't shown any signs of being frustrated, but I understand things from their point of view.

"You want to be fair to people and, as soon as I know what I can and can't do, I will let them know.

"They have got to plan for next season, even if it's here or not."

McCoist has revealed how the need to strengthen his Rangers squad was driven home to him in the Ramsdens Cup final and William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final.

He had to go with Jon Daly up front against both Raith Rovers and Dundee United due to injuries to Nicky Clark, Andy Little and David Templeton

He said: "I would like to strengthen and I think that we need to strengthen in all areas of the team.

"Look at the forward situation right now. Templeton has been out, Clark can't get through 90 minutes because of a thigh injury and Little has been injured, too.

"It means the burden has fallen on big Jon. He's been terrific, but it looks like he's been carrying the burden of playing up front himself.

"It's unfair on these lads and we need to strengthen to give them a hand."

McCoist added: "I wouldn't like to put a figure on how many players I think we need because we may not be able to bring any in at all.

"I would like the opportunity to strengthen the squad and the team, but I might not get the chance."

Meanwhile, Rangers midfielder Arnold Peralta will miss the SPFL League One game against Stenhousemuir at Ochilview today due to the hamstring injury he picked up last week.
