KENNY MILLER has dismissed predictions the SPFL Championship will be a two-horse race between Hearts and Rangers this season.

The Ibrox side jumped above Queen of the South into second spot in the table with their 4-2 victory over their Palmerston Park rivals on Saturday.

The win kept them just three points behind the Jambos, who thrashed Falkirk 4-1 at Tynecastle.

Only four league games have been played in the 2014/15 campaign, but already it seems the Hearts and Rangers squads are superior to those of their rivals.

But Miller, whose weekend strike was his first goal in a competitive fixture since returning to the Light Blues in the summer, feels other clubs could challenge.

And he reckons the Queen of the South display on Saturday - Jim McIntyre's team twice took the lead - shows that the Gers face a battle every week.

Miller said: "We never thought that winning the Championship would be a gimme.

"We are favourites and I think rightly so.

"I have always said that come May I think we will win the league.

"There is no doubt about it. But Hearts, Hibs, Queen of the South and others have shown against us that no-one is going to make it easy.

"We are not going to be handed it and we are going to have to earn it. We are going to have to work and play better.

"We will get better as the season goes on, but it is not going to be easy."

Miller added: "We are just four games in so you can't narrow it down to ourselves and Hearts.

"I thought Hibs were fantastic when they played us in the Petrofac Training Cup.

"Despite their start, I think they will be there or thereabouts as well and I also reckon Queen of the South have started great.

"It is definitely not a gimme because it is going to be long and hard but with the quality we have in that dressing room, we firmly believe that come May we will be at the top."
