ALLY McCOIST is ready and willing to talk to the new Ibrox chiefs in the aftermath of Mike Ashley's Light Blues power grab.

The billionaire has gained control of the Gers in recent days, with Derek Llambias, his former right-hand man at Newcastle United, appointed last night as a consultant to the Glasgow club.

McCoist spoke with chairman David Somers and James Easdale after the Ashley deal was rubber-stamped on Monday but has yet to meet Llambias, who is poised to replace Graham Wallace as chief executive, or speak with the Toon chief.

The Gers boss saw his side book their place in the last four of the League Cup with victory over St Johnstone last night and is expecting high-level talks soon to discuss the future.

He said: "I haven't [spoken to Derek]. I obviously was preparing totally for the game, but I'm looking forward to meeting him.

"We are in this morning and the boys will do their cool down. I am available to meet anyone at any time, but there are no plans as such.

"I haven't been told anything and I haven't met anyone yet. I don't have any doubt that time will come.

"But right now it's about getting the boys brushed down and ready for another tough cup tie on Saturday.

"I spoke to both the chairman and Sandy on Monday and, as I see it just now, I will have

discussions with anyone, board members or shareholders. Anyone who wants to talk, I'll talk."

Rangers had to wait until the closing stages of a low-quality quarter-final clash to finally see off the Saints but the winning goal was worth the wait for the Light Blues.

Lewis Macleod netted his seventh goal of the campaign as he headed home Fraser Aird's cross with just four minutes remaining.

The only downside for McCoist was a nasty head injury to goalkeeper Steve Simonsen after he collided with the post in the second-half but the Gers boss was delighted to see two of his young stars clinch the win.

McCoist said: "Lewis is a top player. I have to say it was a very important goal but equally the delivery in was from another young lad, Fraser, who has done really well for us last year and this year.

"It was very positive that the two young lads linked up to get us into the semi-final.

"We asked Lewis at the start of the season to contribute a bit more in terms of his assists and his finishing and he is certainly doing that."

Meanwhile, Ibrox PR guru Paul Tyrrell last night handed in his notice at the club and will follow Wallace and Philip Nash out of Rangers.
