I have slaughtered the team for their efforts over the last few months but, against Hibernian and Raith, there have been more encouraging signs.

We didn't get the result against Hibs but I thought we were unlucky on the night. The attitude was spot on but they didn't get the goals. I thought the effort against Raith was superb as well.

The attitude has changed and the team has started to play again.

Young Andy Murdoch has come in and has maybe shown the players what effort is about. His goal against Raith was terrific, it was great to see.

It is going to take a massive effort to win promotion this season and the game against Falkirk on Friday night is another really important one for us.

This is when we need the players to stand up and be counted. We need to win games at the business end of the campaign and make sure we get second place.

Away from the first team, I was at the Under-20 game against St Johnstone on Sunday and I was very impressed with a few of the youngsters that are coming through.

The lad Ross McCrorie, whose brother Robby is a keeper, was absolutely immense at the back. He did everything right, never lost a battle in the air, used the ball well and looks a real prospect.

For me, though, the man of the match was Tom Walsh. He was head and shoulders above anyone.

He was so comfortable with both feet, he ran the show in midfield and was outstanding. Rangers do have quality coming through the ranks and I was delighted to see that.
