DAVID BEATTIE reckons Partick Thistle's signing spree is a signal of their intent for the new campaign.
As well as agreeing deals with his out-of-contract stars, boss Jackie McNamara has tied up Hugh Murray, Steven Lawless and Aaron Muirhead, with the club still in discussions with Hibs midfielder Sean Welsh over a Bosman move.
And Jags chairman Beattie is pleased with the rebuilding job done ahead of a possible Irn-Bru First Division title challenge next season.
"I am very pleased with the signings," he said. "Jackie has taken the view it was important to get the core of his business done early in the summer.
"I think we have got a chance next year. I think the league will be extremely exciting. We won't be spending big money, we will be frugal. We will stick to our budget plan, we have to.
"I think the whole feel and attitude around the club just now is good. We want to keep building for next year. Hopefully the fans are encouraged. I think we have got a chance. Where we finished this year I don't think was representative of how we played.
"There were games we should have won that we drew or lost.
"It has been a huge learning curve for Jackie and I think sometimes you have to do that, it makes you stronger. The one thing I know is that Jackie will learn from this season and be stronger.
"I am delighted with the job Jackie has done and I think the general consensus from the fans is positive as well.
"There will always be the doubters. I think he has done a good job. There has been a huge sea-change for the club but I am happy with the way the club is just now."
