CRAIG BENSON has admitted that getting to the Olympics is reward enough for his efforts – but landing a medal would be a dream come true.
The 18-year-old Scot, who will represent Team GB in the 100metre breaststroke, was very much a surprise when he was named in the squad.
But the West Lothian teenager, who won silver at the European Junior Championships last year, is determined to seize his chance.
He said: "It is pretty much every athlete's dream to compete at an Olympic Games and it makes it even more special that it's at home.
"To have 17,500 people cheering you on will be really exciting – I will have never experienced anything like it.
"I'm going to aim for a medal but getting into the final would be a great achievement – to qualify for the Games was a massive achievement."
