RUARIDH JACKSON believes that new Glasgow head coach Gregor Townsend is already putting his stamp on the Warriors.
The ex-Scotland and British Lions stand-off is now in charge of his second week of pre-season training and Jacko says that already Toony has put the emphasis on increasing Warriors' attacking threat.
The 24-year-old will be engaged in a three-way fight for the Glasgow No.10 shirt with Duncan Weir and Scott Wight, but has no doubt that he is already benefiting from the talk of the Toon as he bids to try and reclaim pole position in the stand-off stakes.
Jacko said: "Obviously it is early days and we are just halfway through our second week of pre-season, but already Gregor's enthusiasm and energy is rubbing off on us.
"He has been very hands-on and has taken a lot of skill-set sessions with the emphasis being very much on working with the ball.
"Gregor has made no bones about the fact he wants to make us a more potent attacking side and everything he has done over the last few days has underlined that. We know that we were hard to beat last season, but Gregor wants to take that up a notch and everyone is buying into it.
"From a personal point of view, I have always enjoyed working with Gregor going back to when he was Scotland attack coach and now getting the opportunity to work on a daily basis with him is only going to help my development and the likes of Scott Wight.
"Probably from the point of view that Duncan [Weir] is still in the Southern Hemisphere with Scotland we have stolen a march on Duncy. But although it's been tough, it has been very enjoyable and over the first 10 days or so we already have a good base."
Like everybody at Warriors, Jackson was excited by the Heineken Cup draw that has placed Glasgow alongside Northampton, Ulster and Castres in Europe's top competition.
Jacko said: "I think the great thing about the Heineken Cup is that we have a couple of fresh draws there.
Obviously Ulster are in the PRO12, but you look at Northampton and Castres, and they are new teams for us to be testing ourselves against.
"With Northampton, you have a Heineken Cup beaten finalist from a couple of seasons back and, of course, the whole Scotland versus England thing going on. So that will be great and given that we beat Bath in Glasgow last season we will be having a real go there.
"With Castres, that is new French opposition for us and you have a certain Max Evans strutting his stuff for them.
"So I am certain we can make sure Maxie comes in for some extra attention. But the main thing for us is that it is a draw we believe we can progress into the knockout stages from."
