FORMER Hamilton duo Simon Mensing and Kyle Wilkie have been invited to join Morton for pre-season training as Cappielow boss Allan Moore continues his search for new recruits.

Moore has already snapped up ex-New Douglas Park defender Mark McLaughlin on a free transfer after his Accies contract expired at the end of the season.

Now he has turned his attentions to midfield pair Mensing and Wilkie.

While Wilkie made just a handful of appearances for Billy Reid's Accies last season, Mensing was a stalwart for the Lanarkshire outfit.

The 29-year-old had admitted that a move south of the border would be his preference this summer.

However, he will now link up with Moore's men for training as the big kick-off draws closer.

Ton boss Moore has secured Derek Gaston, Jason Naismith, Willie Dyer, Jordan Halsman, Stephen Stirling and David Graham as he rebuilds his squad ahead of the new Irn-Bru First Division campaign.

Elsewhere, Clyde have completed their third signing of the summer so far with the capture of the former Stranraer defender John Kane.

The 25-year-old, who can also play in midfield, has had spells with a number of clubs, including Hibernian, Motherwell and Partick Thistle and has penned a one-year deal with Jim Duffy's Bully Wee.

Kane joins Jamie Barclay and Stuart McColm in making the switch to Broadwood ahead of the new season.

Duffy also seeing a number of his out-of-contract stars commit their futures to the club for the coming season.
