ALEX DUNBAR is determined to use his trip down under with Scotland to help him consolidate an outstanding debut season for Glasgow.

The Warriors centre got the call from Andy Robinson to join up with the Australasia touring party while on holiday in Tasmania with his family.

Although no Test time came his way, the fact he got the call has been a huge boost to Dunbar's confidence.

With the RaboDirect PRO12 fixture list due out later today he can't wait for the new season to kick off.

He said: "It was fantastic to get the call and although I didn't get any game time I got a valuable insight into how the Scotland set up works.

"I also picked up a few little pointers that will stand me in good stead for the pre-season with Glasgow and hopefully when the action kicks off again.

"I know I am nowhere near the finished article but after only one season in the pro game to be called up on a Scotland tour was a real thrill.

"It would have been fantastic to get some game time, but I knew I was only being added as cover so that was not an issue."

Dunbar had just completed a 90-minute skills set session at a wet Drumoyne, Warriors temporary Govan training base, when SportTimes caught up with him.

And, looking ahead to the new season, the 22- year-old admitted that the publication of the PRO12 fixture card later today will really bring home the fact the new campaign is just around the corner.

The Warriors centre said: "These really are exciting times at Glasgow.

"We have the brand new stadium at Scotstoun and it will be fantastic to get the first game there.

"But when the fixture list comes out that really brings it home to you that the new season is just around the corner.

"We had a good season last time around but we are determined to make next season a great one.

"My personal target is to play a big a part in making that happen as I can.

"I know a lot of young professionals find their second season tough but I can't wait for mine to start."
