Martin Ferry reckons his Renfrew players could be forgiven for thinking that Fullarton Park is their new home ground.

Frew are hoping to move into their new base before the end of this season - but it's 20 miles or so from the east end of Glasgow.

Renfrew visited Fullarton Park last Saturday, where they shared the points with hosts Vale of Clyde, and square up to Central District First Division leaders Bellshill Athletic in Tollcross this afternoon.

The temporary tenants currently have a nine-point advantage over third-top Frew, but have played two games more.

A win for Ferry's men this afternoon would haul them right back into the title mix - with half the season still to go.

And the Renfrew co-boss reckons it might be no bad thing that his players are making a quickfire return to Fullarton Park

He said: "We played there last Saturday and, if the truth be told, didn't expect to be going back to the east end again so soon.

"But with Bellshill ground sharing with the Vale, we have to go some time, so why not this afternoon?

"And anyway, it might be no bad thing as the condition of the park will be similar to those we experienced last weekend."

The Frew management team of Ferry and Colin Clark have watched Bellshill three times in recent weeks, and admit to being impressed by what they saw.

This will be the first meeting of the sides this season, and Ferry insisted today's game is massive.

He said: "I don't usually talk about 'must-win' games, but we certainly don't want to fall any further behind the teams involved in the race for promotion.

"But it will be a hard game today, because Bellshill are a good footballing side, and like to get the ball down and pass it about.

"That's also the way we like to play, so it should be a decent match for the fans to watch.

"Scott Arthur has been in terrific form for us recently and he is a player that we will again look to for inspiration."

Ferry and Clark have been at Renfrew seven years now, and the former insisted there have been more ups than downs.

He added: "Getting relegated out of the Super League at the end of last term was a real low point, but it has given us a chance to rebuild, and if we do manage to get promoted this season, our younger players will have a year's more experience.

"We also have our new ground to look forward to and we can't wait to get started there. It's only a couple of hundred yards from Western Park, but this is huge for the club, and will hopefully help us to continue heading in the right direction."

And Ferry knows a win this afternoon would take his side a step closer to the top - a position Frew held earlier in the season.

He said: "Naturally we will be going all out for the win today, but if we lose we will be the first to congratulate our opponents.

"We know what it's like to be up there, and it brings with it, its own set of pressures."

Meanwhile, new Arthurlie boss Robert Downs is hoping to see off the threat of Rob Roy in today's replayed Scottish Cup fourth round tie.

The sides drew 1-1 in the first match at Dunterlie Park, and even though the Rabs are currently ground sharing with Cumbernauld United, Downs knows the players will still look upon Guy's Meadow as home.

He said: "Rob Roy might be the tenants at Guy's Meadow, but as far as the players will be concerned, it is their home ground.

"It's something I experienced when I was manager of Bellshill, but after you've played there for a while, you think about it as your own place.

"The bottom line is Rob Roy are a very good side, and we will need to be at our best to beat them this afternoon."

The Scottish Junior Cup is the only competition the Arthurlie manager failed to win during his playing career, and he admitted he would love to rectify that as gaffer.

He said: "The Scottish Cup is a massive competition, but sadly it has remained elusive as far as I'm concerned.

"I did get pretty close though, but lost out in three semi-finals and two quarter-finals, which was a bit frustrating. I suppose you could say it was a bit of a bugbear, but I would like to put that right by winning it with Arthurlie."

But Downs is without three of his top players this afternoon. Chris Dallas has an ongoing groin problem, while Rhys Devlin is suspended and Craig Palmer is cup-tied. But Lie welcome back Kyle Rafferty from a broken leg, and he goes straight into the squad.
