PARTICK Thistle manager Jackie McNamara last night added another two players to his squad with the signing of Aaron Muirhead and Steven Lawless.
The double swoop comes just 24 hours after the Jags completed a deal to bring former St Mirren midfielder Hugh Murray to the club.
Muirhead moves to Firhill from Irn-Bru Third Division side Annan Athletic and will attempt to follow in the footsteps of fellow defender Aaron Sinclair, who made the step up to the First Division last season with aplomb, turning in a number of impressive performances for McNamara's side and attracting interest from clubs north and south of the border.
The 22-year-old has made 127 appearances for Harry Cairney's side and has penned a two-year deal at Firhill.
Also moving to Glasgow ahead of the new campaign is former Motherwell striker Steven Lawless.
The youngster is a product of the revered Fir Park youth system and has spent time on loan in the Football League with Annan and Albion Rovers in recent years, helping the Coatbridge side to a place in the Second Division last season.
The 21-year-old has also agreed a two-year deal with Thistle and will compete with star striker Kris Doolan, Mark McGuigan and Christie Elliot for a place in McNamara's strikeforce next season.
The Jags boss had been keen to complete his transfer business sooner rather than later and moved swiftly to tie up Alan Archibald, Stephen O'Donnell, Paul Paton, Conrad Balatoni, Sinclair and McGuigan on fresh deals ahead of the new campaign.
Thistle are still waiting to hear whether mid- fielder Sean Welsh will accept an offer to join the club on a Bosman deal from Scottish Premier League side Hibernian, with star man Paul Cairney set to head in the opposite direction.
McNamara is still targeting at least one more addition to his squad ahead of the new campaign and the Jags boss is pleased to get his latest acquisitions on board.
He said: "I am delighted that we have been able to bring Aaron and Steven to the club.
"With Aaron, Steven and Hugh Murray now on board, we are going some way to getting our plans in place for next season.
"They are two young players with a lot of potential and I am sure they will do well for us."
