I wasn't too surprised to hear the news this week that Borussia Dortmund manager Jorgen Klopp will step down from his role in July.

He has been a terrific coach for Dortmund and you have to tip your hat to what he has achieved there.

When he took over the club were at death's door. They were really staring into the abyss and looked done for. He turned them around completely on the pitch and developed a new style of play that has reaped significant success over the 7 years that he has been at the club.

I suspect he feels as though the cycle has ended for him and I also wonder just how much frustration there is that he is constantly losing players to Bayern Munich.

It is a difficult task to build a team when you know that your best players will always be cherry-picked by a rival club.

His stock remains high and I cannot imagine that he will short of offers.

He has been a super coach in the Bundesliga and it will be interesting to see now whether or not he is snapped up by any of the Premiership clubs this summer.

He is an intelligent guy with a lot of flair, a lot of personality and I am sure we will be talking about him again very soon.
