Pat MacArthur is looking forward to the 1872 Cup game with Edinburgh Rugby at Scotstoun on Saturday and says all form goes out the window in a derby fixture.

Glasgow host the capital side in the second leg of the competition, after the original fixture was postponed on New Year's Day, and with the Warriors currently fourth in the RaboDirect Pro12 they have a chance to secure more vital league points with just three games of the regular season remaining.

MacArthur, pictured, said: "For both sides it's massively important. Form goes out the window in a derby match and we're treating this as a one-off huge game.

"Edinburgh will want to come to our patch to get a win after we beat them at Murrayfield earlier in the season.

"They are a very physical team and we know they'll come at us and we've got to take them on and play the way we want to play. It's going to be a really tough game.

"Matt Scott has been playing really well for Edinburgh since coming back from injury and he's been scoring some tries.

"In the forwards they've got big ball carriers in the back-row so it will be a tough shift for us."

More than 7500 tickets have already been sold for Saturday's game and the club are targeting a record crowd for a game in Glasgow - the highest recorded was 8852 when Glasgow and Edinburgh met at Firhill on New year's Day 2012.

The hooker added: "We want a club record crowd to cheer us on. We love playing in front of big crowds at Scotstoun as they're really noisy and get behind us.

"It's now the business end of the season and every week we've got a bigger game. That's a great position for us to be in at this stage."
