GLASGOW WARRIORS have been urged to keep their foot on the pedal when their Pro12 campaign resumes tonight in Wales.

The Scotstoun outfit head to Scarlets determined to maintain the blistering early season form which has taken them into second place in the table.

Gregor Townsend's team lie just three points off pacesetters Ospreys and one ahead of third-placed Ulster.

And the Glasgow coach has rallied his troops to make it win number seven for the season following the international break - despits still having 11 players away on international duty with Scotland.

He said: "The players have worked really hard this week and are looking forward to what will be a big test for the squad.

"Last week there was a big emphasis on conditioning and physicality in training, culminating in a practice match against the Scotland 7s and club players, which was a valuable exercise.

"Tonight's game is an extremely important one, especially at this stage of the season, and there is a real hunger and desire within the squad to perform well down in Wales."

Townsend last night named his team for the Parc y Scarlets clash and handed 18-year-old Zander Fagerson his first start for the club

Also making his debut will be 21-year-old scrum-half, who joined Warriors last year from Bedford Blues.

But the key responsbility will lie with skipper Al Kellock, who returns to the fray after captaining the Barbarians in two matches against Australia and Leicester Tigers earlier this month.

In the backs, Peter Murchie will play his second game in a row at full-back.

Lee Jones is also retained on the right wing following the victory over Treviso at the end of the October.

In the centre, the pairing of Richie Vernon and James Downey will link up once again. On the left wing, Rory Hughes will make his first start of the season.

The half-back pairing will be Peter Horne and debutant Price.

In the forwards, Alex Allan makes his first start at loose-head since early October, Pat MacArthur is retained at hooker following his recent McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month award and Fagerson starts at tight-head.

In the second-row Tom Ryder partners captain Kellock, with Ryan Wilson starting at Number 8 and both Josh Strauss and Chris Fusaro completing the back-row. The bench features forwards Kevin Bryce, Rossouw de Klerk, James Eddie, Tyrone Holmes and for the first time this season, Jon Welsh.

In the backs, Glenn Bryce, brother of hooker, Kevin, could make his debut for the club and he's joined by Connor Braid. Niko Matawalu will also be on the bench, following his appearance for Fiji at the Millennium Stadium last week.
